Alabama Manufacturer To Lay Off 62 Employees
Decatur's National Packaging Co. Inc. said a restructuring of the business are the cause of the layoffs.
DECATUR, AL — A manufacturer in Alabama plans to consolidate two plants into one, which will result in 62 layoffs. The layoffs go into effect Aug. 8, leaving 94 remaining employees at National Packaging Co. Inc. in Decatur, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.
The manufacturer, which produces sachets, blister packs, canisters and other packaging materials, invoked the WARN Act, notifying the Alabama Department of Commerce June 8 of its intent to lay off the 62 employees.
