Alabama Ranks In The Top 20 Most Patriotic States In America
Ahead of July 4th, personal finance website WalletHub ranked the most 'patriotic' states in America, and Alabama is in the top 20.
WASHINGTON, DC - As July 4th approaches, patriotism comes to the forefront, and American flags fly freely across the country. And in Alabama, that patriotism is apparent beyond just the celebration of Independence Day.
The personal finance website, WalletHub, recently ranked the most 'patriotic' states in America, and Alabama was listed among the top 20, coming in at 19th.
To determine where Americans have the most red, white and blue pride, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 13 key indicators of patriotism. The data set ranges from average number of military enlistees to share of adults who voted in the 2016 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Here is where Alabama ranked in some of the key metrics (1=Most Patriotic; 25=Avg.):
- 5th – Average Number of Military Enlistees per 1,000 Civilian Adults
- 30th – Active-Duty Military Personnel per 100,000 Civilian Adults
- 17th – Veterans per 1,000 Civilian Adults
- 1st – Civics Education Requirement
- 12th – Share of Civilian Adult Population in Military Reserves
- 10th – Share of Adults Who Voted in 2016 Primary Elections
