Chicken Products Recalled For Metal Contamination Risk

More than 2 million pounds of the products that were shipped to institutions in Alabama have been recalled.

Over two million pounds of chicken products have been recalled because of a possible risk of metal contamination, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

The recall was announced by Simmons Prepared Foods, an Arkansas based company. According to the Department of Agriculture, the chicken products were shipped to institutions in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

The agency said the recalled products were produced between Oct.21, 2019 and Nov.4, 2019. An extensive amount of ready to cook chicken products are a part of the recall.

The recalled products have the establishment number "P-1949" or "P-5837" inside the Department of Agriculture's mark of inspection.

So far, there have not been any reports of adverse reactions in people who have eaten any of these products. But federal officials are concerned the products could be stored in institutional freezers.

Any institutions that may have bought the products were asked to throw away the products and health officials stressed that they should not be served.
