Hawaii Police Investigating Possible Drowning Of Alabama Man
The victim, Harry Wakefield, 68, was a former mail handler, according to the Birmingham Mail Handlers Union.
ACROSS ALABAMA — Hawaii police are investigating the possible drowning of an Alabama man in South Kohala.
Police have identified the victim as 68-year-old Harry Wakefield of Alabama.
The Birmingham Mail Handlers Union said in a Facebook post that Wakefield, a retired mail handler, was in Hawaii celebrating an anniversary when he died in a surfing accident.

"The membership and Executive Board of Local 317 extend its most heartfelt and sincere condolences to Brother Wakefield's wife, family and friends," union members said.
On Tuesday around 10:14 a.m., officers said they responded to a report that an unresponsive man was pulled out of the waters at the Pentagon mooring, located off of Anaehoomalu Bay in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area.

After receiving a 911 call from a charter snorkeling boat, police said Hawaii Fire Department medics tried to resuscitate Wakefield before transporting him to the Queens North Hawaii Community Hospital.
Wakefield was pronounced dead at 11:22 a.m.
Police said they have begun a coroner’s inquest investigation and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
