Human Remains Found In Search For Missing Florida Girl

Human remains found in Alabama could be a missing 5-year-old, and the girl's mother has been arrested.

DEMOPOLIS, AL — The search for a young Jacksonville girl continued into Alabama over the weekend, and that search has uncovered what police day are human remains in Demopolis. Taylor Williams, just five years old, was reported missing by her mother last Wednesday around 7:20 a.m.

Police have not positively identified the remains.

The girl's mother said she awoke to find her back door open and her daughter missing from the home. Brianna Williams, the girl's mother, has been charged with child neglect and giving false information to investigators

Upon investigating, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert for her. Since then, the search for the girl has expanded to Alabama where the child's mother is from.

The search now involves multiple agencies, including the FBI, FDLE, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), as well as the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, the Marengo County Sheriff’s Office and the Demopolis Police Department. According to an ABC affiliate ion Jacksonville, that search has uncovered human remains found between Linden and Demopolis, although police have not confirmed the identity of the remains.

"It appears she has been found in a location south of Demopolis," Demopolis Mayor John Laney said in a telephone interview with First Coast News. "But I also know that by finding her that it will at least bring closure and they won’t have questions in their mind."

Taylor Williams is the third kidnapping/missing persons case in Alabama in less than a month, and each has involved a black female as the victim. The search continues for 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard, while the case of 3-year-old Kamille McKinney ended in the girl being found dead in Birmingham.
