More than 50 Alabama Businesses Listed as Nation's Fastest Growing

Many Alabama cities have seen a shift in what drives the economy, as some cities have transitioned from manufacturing to medical, some from financial to technical, others from agricultural to industrial. Whatever has been driving the state's economy through the last decade is paying off, as the state is seeing its economy grow, however slowly, and Alabama businesses are growing. In its annual poll of the country's 5000 fastest growing companies, business publication Inc listed 57 Alabama companies among its 5000.

The fastest growing company in the state is Sparks Energy, based in Danville. With revenue of $70.3 million last year, the energy company has seen growth of more than 2,700 percent. That placed Sparks as the 139th fastest growing business in the nation.
