UAB Infectious Disease Doctor Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Dr. Mike Saag was exposed on a family visit to New York City, according to UAB officials.

BIRMINGHAM, AL—University of Alabama at Birmingham officials say a doctor in the infectious diseases division has tested positive for COVID-19.
Mike Saag, M.D., a physician in the UAB Division of Infectious Disease, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
"He wishes to make his case known as an example of the COVID-19 reality and the importance of practicing aggressive social distancing," UAB officials said in a statement.

According to UAB officials, Dr. Saag was exposed on a family visit to New York City.
"Dr. Saag and UAB are taking precautionary measures to promote a safe environment, and we will diligently work with health department officials to identify and notify anyone who may have been exposed," UAB officials said.
