12 Dogs Rescued On Highway 78 Labor Day Weekend
Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies rescued a dozen dogs along the side of busy Highway 78 in Jefferson County.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies rescued 12 dogs along Highway 78 Sunday near Birmingham-Jasper Road. A deputy was on patrol about 3:45 p.m. and spotted the dogs trying to cross the busy road.
A report by Alabama Media Group said the deputy blocked a traffic lane and coaxed the dogs to the side of the highway so they would not be struck by a passing vehicle. A passerby stopped and told the deputy that there were more dogs a little further up Birmingham-Jasper Road. Another deputy arrived and help to catch the first seven dogs until animal control could get there to assist.
