17-Year-Old Killed In Ensley Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting in Ensley Tuesday night resulted in the death of 17-year-old Desmon Antwuan McGuire of Birmingham. The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. at 20th Place and Avenue P.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said police found McGuire lying in a grassy area surrounded by community members attempting to render aid. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the location and McGuire was pronounced dead on the scene.

Mauldin said the preliminary investigation indicates McGuire was involved in a verbal dispute prior to being shot. A person of interest was detained for further questioning but no arrest was made.
