5 Deadly Shootings Reported In Birmingham Over Weekend

Police are investigating five fatal shootings in Birmingham in the last 48 hours.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Five people were shot and killed in Birmingham between Saturday and Sunday in three separate incidents.

The first incident occurred in Ensley Saturday just after 11 a.m. Sgt. Rob Mauldin said 21-year-old Albert Griffin was shot and killed at an apartment at 2326 Avenue S. The preliminary investigation suggests that an acquaintance of Griffin's entered the apartment and shot him.

Mauldin said no suspects are in custody.

The second incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Saturday in west Birmingham. Mauldin said 20-year-old Jaishuntae Browning was shot in the 2500 block of 29th Place West after an altercation with another person. Browning was taken to Princeton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A man and woman were shot near Brother Bryan Park Sunday afternoon, and the suspected shooter was shot and killed by police.
