Avondale Hot Dog Joint Closing
A hot dog restaurant in Avondale is closing after four years, with its last day of business Saturday.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — An Avondale restaurant that has been a part of the business community in the neighborhood for four years is closing. Hot Diggity Dogs, a gourmet hot dog joint above Fancy's on Fifth, will close its door Saturday, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
Thursday, a post on the Facebook page read, "Born in the mouth of a shark during an underwater lightning storm, Hot Diggity Dogs made landfall in July of 2016 in the Avondale neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. Regretfully after years of offering whip ass hot dogs, vegetarian dogs, and ice cold beer to the residents of this fine city we have to close our doors. We will be closing this Saturday. Show us some love before then and stop by. We are very grateful to everyone that has supported us. Thank you!"
Hot Diggity Dogs was opened in 2016 by former Bottletree chef Tom Bagby.
