Barons Return Home Tuesday To Start 10-Game Homestand
The Birmingham Barons will begin a 10-game homestand after Memorial Day, including the Rickwood Classic.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Barons are back in town this week, and will begin a 10-game homestand, which includes their annual game at the historic Rickwood Field. This homestand will also feature T-Shirt Tuesdays and Dollar Hot Dogs, Thirsty Thursdays, Camp Day and Post-Game Fireworks.
To start off the homestand, the Barons will play a five-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits, Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays from May 27th-June 1st. Then the Jackson Generals, Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, will come to town as they begin a five-game series starting on Sunday, June 2nd and ending on Thursday, June 6th.
The 23rd Annual Rickwood Classic, taking place at the country's oldest ballpark, begins at 11 a.m. May 29. This year's classic will celebrate the first-ever game played at Rickwood Field on August, 18th 1910 between the Birmingham Coal Barons and the Montgomery Climbers. After tying the game up at two in the bottom of the 9th, Coal Barons Infielder Bert Emery hit a walk-off single to lead the Coal Barons to a 3-2 victory.

Former veteran MLB player and manager Piniella will be the special guest of honor and will be available for autographs during the game.
As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for the 59/20 Interstate improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation requests drivers to take alternative routes to Regions Field. Fans can learn more about alternative routes by going to 59/20 Bridge Project website.
