The staggered schedule the system will use is similar to the schedule used by Mountain Brook, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood and Trussville schools to begin the year. One group of students will attend classes on campus Monday and Tuesdays, while the other half of the student body will attend Thursdays and Fridays, with the other three days being virtual.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan said the system made the decision to return to partial in-person learning based on COVID-19 test numbers in the city and in Jefferson County, and on models from other local school systems.
