Birmingham Coffee Shop To Close Its Doors After 27 Years
A staple in the city's small business community will close its doors for good amid the coronavirus pandemic.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A staple in Birmingham's restaurant community for more than 25 years is closing its doors permanently. Lucy's Coffee & Tea, which has operated in Birmingham's Southside community since 1993, will not re-open when coronavirus restrictions are lifted on local restaurants.
A Facebook post by owner Lucy Bonds said making ends meet over the last six weeks has been difficult, so she has decided to close.
"My customers. My UAB family. It has been my honor and privilege to serve you....I'm gonna take my 27 years of memories, before hand sanitizer, masks and thermometers, and tuck them away," Bonds said in her message.
