BIRMINGHAM, AL — A series of thunderstorms swept through Alabama Tuesday, which brought with it more than three inches of rain to parts of Jefferson County. The hours of rain throughout the day caused flooding in many Birmingham-area communities.

Multiple roads in Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Trussville, Mountain Brook and downtown Birmingham were closed at some point during the afternoon and evening due to flash flooding.

Some of the areas most impacted were roads near creeks and rivers, like Lakeshore Drive, Mountain Brook Parkway and Caldwell Mill Road.
