Body Found In Creek Identified As Missing Bessemer Man
William Jacob McNair, missing since Saturday, was found dead in a creek in Jefferson County Monday.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A body discovered Monday night in Valley Creek in the Oak Grove community of Jefferson County has been identified as a missing Bessemer man. William Jacob McNair, 33, had been missing since Saturday.
The discovery of McNair's body was made just before 6 p.m. Monday, but due to the rugged terrain in the area, Jefferson County deputies were unable to safely remove the body in the dark, according to Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Jefferson County deputies, along with Concord Fire and Rescue personnel, were able to resume recovery efforts Tuesday morning, and recovered the body around 6:30 a.m.

"Deputies along with K-9's, immediately went to the area where McNair was last known to have been," Money said. "His truck and personal belongings were located, but there was no sign of McNair. K-9 Deputies and ALEA's Helicopter were deployed over the weekend, but were unable to produce any new leads."
