Carver's Randrea Wright Named 5A Player Of The Year

The Alabama Sports Writers Association named girls basketball star Randrea Wright of Carver its Class 5A Player of the Year.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — After leading her team to its first girls basketball state championship this season, senior Randrea Wright of Carver has been named the Class 5A Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Wright, who has committed to play college ball at Central Arkansas next year, led Carver to a 25-4 record this season.

Wright nailed 20 of her 24 free throw attempts, tying an AHSAA state tournament record, and finished with 35 points as the fourth-ranked Rams held off No. 5 Mae Jemison 78-69 in the Class 5A girls championship game.
