City Adds Flex Lanes To Downtown Birmingham Street
A project by the City of Birmingham and REV Birmingham has added "flex lanes"for commercial traffic or valet drop-offs and pickups.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Traffic congestion in downtown Birmingham may improve soon if an experiment by the City of Birmingham and REV Birmingham works the way it is panned. Flex lanes on 20th Street between 1st Avenue North and 3rd Avenue were put in Wednesday for for commercial traffic or valet drop-offs and pickups, according to a WBRC report.
"We’re trying to create the best of both worlds here by trying to give a lot more space back to the pedestrians but still allowing some slower, calmer vehicle traffic," said REV Birmingham’s project coordinator Jonathan Crain in the WBRC interview.
