Deadly Shooting In South Birmingham Under Investigation

Birmingham police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday in the Titusville community.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man was shot and killed Saturday in the Titusville community in south Birmingham. The incident occurred just after noon in the 100 block of Center Street SW.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers found a man unresponsive at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Mauldin said the investigation suggests the victim was riding a bicycle when he was approached by an unknown person who then engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. The victim was then shot multiple times, and the shooter fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
