Thunder on the Mountain; Vulcan Park & Museum; July 4, 8 p.m.
For decades, 4th of July celebrations in the greater Birmingham area have culminated with friends and family gathering to watch these fireworks, hear great music and celebrate the nation’s independence. In fact, Birmingham’s annual fireworks display is the biggest in the state of Alabama. Free to the public, the show features a variety of firework shells that will illuminate the sky with beautiful colors and patterns.

Trussville Freedom Celebration; The Mall in Trussville; 7 p.m.
The free event includes live music by Act of Congress, food from Wasabai Juans, Southland BBQ , Papa John's Pizza, Eugene's Hot Chicken, Cheezin - Grilled Cheeses, Pazzo Pizza & Wings, Mealfit, , Heavenly Donuts, Bendy’s Cookies and Cream, Frio's Gourmet Pops, Kona Ice, Doodles Sorbet, City Bowls and more. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Two of the area's annual fireworks celebrations, Bessemer's Fourth of July Celebration and Pelham's Fire on the Water, were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
