Fultondale Tornado: How To Help

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — As the residents of Fultondale and Center Point try to piece back together their lives after a tornado ripped through their community Monday night, a bevy of organizations throughout the Birmingham area have launched donation and volunteer campaigns to help the victims of the devastating storm.

Gov. Kay Ivey has set up the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund where people can donate to those most affected by the storm, but locally, people can drop off donations of cash or items needed by the families affected

Items needed include:

Hoover Fire Stations: The City of Hoover is collecting donations of items such as tarps, batteries, matches, candles, cleaning items, bottled water, non-perishable food, blankets, towels, diapers, formula and pet food until 5 p.m. Sunday. See what items will be accepted here.

Homewood City Hall: The city of Homewood will be collecting similar items at Homewood City Hall by 11 a.m. on Friday.

Fultondale City Hall: Accepting non-perishable items, water, cleaning supplies and sundries.

Center Point Recreation Center and City Hall: Accepting donations of bottled water, non perishable foods, tarps and COVID-19 supplies (masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray).

Gardendale Civic Center: Accepting tarps, hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, diapers and wipes, adult diapers and bed pads, socks (multiple sizes), Ensure, formula, pet food, cleaning supplies, trash bags, work gloves, Gatorade, cases of water, protein bars, pillows and blankets, laundry detergent, plastic totes, gallon size plastic ziplock bags, hand sanitizer and face masks. Donations can be made between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Warrior Fire Department: Accepting donations of tarps, hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, diapers and wipes, adult diapers and bed pads, socks (multiple sizes), Ensure, formula, pet food, cleaning supplies, trash bags, work gloves, Gatorade, cases of water, protein bars, pillows and blankets, laundry detergent, plastic totes, gallon size plastic ziplock bags, hand sanitizer and face masks until 10 a.m. Jan. 31.
