Irondale Man Shot And Killed In Ensley

A 29-year-old Irondale man died in a shooting in Ensley Wednesday night, one of two deadly shootings overnight in the city.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An Irondale man was shot and killed in Ensley Wednesday night. The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. at a residence at 812 Avenue G.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin said preliminary Birmingham PD investigation suggests that a domestic-related argument took place inside the residence prior to the victim being shot. Police found 29-year-old Howard Johnson dead in the hallway of the home when they arrived on the scene.

"A person of interest remained on the scene and was taken into custody for questioning," Mauldin said.

This deadly shooting was the first of two in Birmingham Wednesday night, as a teenager was killed in a drive-by shooting in east Birmingham just before 11:30 p.m.
