Jeff Co Sheriff's Office Offering Safety Training To Churches

The training covers what to do in the event of an active shooter situation, and is being conducted in churches around the county.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — In the wake of church shootings across the country, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will offer safety awareness training to churches that wish to better protect themselves in dangerous situations.

The training covers what to do in the event of an active shooter situation, and is being conducted in churches around the county. The first class was held this week at Enon Baptist Church in Morris, and another will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in the beginning of 2018.

Churches who wish to participate in program are asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Training Academy at (205) 849-5246.
