Man Dead, Woman Hospitalized In Jefferson County Shooting

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A man is dead and a woman has been hospitalized after a shooting incident in Jefferson County Wednesday night. The incidents occurred in Brighton just after 10 p.m.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said deputies initially came to the area on a report of shots fired, and while in the area heard more shots. The deputies discovered a man nearby on 8th Avenue suffering gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Money said the JCSO received a report that a woman had arrived at UAB Hospital with gunshot wounds and said she was shot in the same area of Brighton.

Witnesses said they saw a white car flee the scene of the fatal shooting after shots were fired, Money said.
