Man Shot And Killed During Robbery Attempt In West Birmingham

Police say a man was shot and killed while attempting to rob a business in west Birmingham Saturday morning.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man was shot and killed Saturday morning during what police say was an attempted robbery in west Birmingham. The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. at Hatcher’s Auto Transmissions Center on Tuscaloosa Avenue.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said 22-year-old Josiah Bryant attempted to rob an employee at the business, and shots were exchanged between Bryant and the employee.

Bryant was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene when police arrived. Fitzgerald said the employee at Hatcher’s Auto Transmissions Center has fully cooperated with law enforcement in the investigation.
