BIRMINGHAM, AL — Mother's Day this year falls on Sunday, May 9 — a day annually set aside to celebrate mamas, including stepmoms, foster moms, grandmothers and even aunties, who shape our lives and love us like no other.

Restaurants and chefs across the Birmingham metro are readying feasts — for on-site dining or takeout — to make it a memorable day. And whether the moms in your life prefer egg and quiche brunches, steak, lobster, BBQ, pasta dishes, Latin-inspired fare or sweet treats, Patch has you covered.

Daniel George: This Mountain Brook eatery offers a wide variety of award-winning entrees from a grilled flank steak to shrimp and grits or even buttermilk fried chicken, with dessert options including strawberry key lime tart and brownie a la mode. Farrelly’s : Offered 1o a.m. to 3 p.m., the brunch menu offers items like their Wagyu Craft Burger and their famous shrimp and grits. Don’t forget to order Mom a mimosa or Farrelly’s Signature Bloody Mary. Reservations are required and can be made here or by calling the restaurant at (205) 968-1408. They are also accepting online to-go orders.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse: Treat Mom to a three-course menu featuring filet mignon and choice of lobster scampi or crab-stuffed shrimp. Starting at $80 per guest and offered May 8-9 beginning at 11 a.m. Locations.

Ironwood Kitchen & Cocktails: Located inside the Valley Hotel, this new Homewood restaurant has anything from their lavender honey crème brulee to Chef Doug Zuk’s all-you-can-eat breakfast bar (a chef in the dining room preparing omelets, breakfast potatoes and more). Reservations are required and can be made here.

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille: Opening at 11 a.m. in honor of Mother’s Day, Perry’s will offer special features like its Fennel-Crusted Salmon and brunch cocktails, along with Perry’s 3-Course Mother’s Day Sunday Supper beginning at 4 p.m. and the full dinner menu available all day. Top off the meal with a mimosa, Brandy Milk Punch or Bloody Mary. Perry’s Famous Pork Chop Supper will also be available for $39.

PF Chang’s: Celebrate Mom with a pre fixe four-course menu ($50) that includes a glass of wine. Selections include: Chang's Lettuce Wraps; Dynamite Shrimp; soup; Miso Glazed Salmon; Mongolian Beef; Peking Duck; and desserts of cheesecake or The Great Wall of Chocolate. Ruth’s Chris Steak House: Pre-order an at-home Mother's Day feast for four ($180) that includes starter, beef tenderloin, sides and cheesecake. Orders must be placed 48 hours in advance of pickup. In-restaurant dining is also offered. Locations.

Seasons 52: Brunch will be served on-site May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with starters, soup and entree choices of quiche, French toast, ham or shrimp and grits. Or select the Mother's Day Green Box To-Go, serving two or four to six. Warm and serve at home with selections of ham, salmon or beef tenderloin, plus sides and dessert.
