Pro-Bowl Cornerback Partners With Target To Give Supplies To Birmingham Tornado Victims

Last week, multiple tornadoes swept through the Birmingham metro area, leaving some parts devastated. James Bradberry, a native of Pleasant Grove and a New York Giants Pro-Bowl cornerback, partnered with Target to help the community get back on its feet.

On Wednesday, March 31, Bradberry joined Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin and the Birmingham Fire Department at Boutwell Auditorium to unload supplies to help those affected by the recent EF-1 tornadoes. Target, located in Homewood, donated $1,500. Bradberry matched their donation to give a total of $3,000 worth of much-needed supplies, such as tarps, rakes, gloves, cleaning supplies, sanitation and hygiene supplies, toiletries, food, water, and other items.

“I know first hand what it is like to be a part of a tragedy that was caused by a tornado. Support from the community is the only way for us to recover. That’s why I am here,” Bradberry said as he spoke to Mayor Woodfin on Wednesday.

Bradberry recalled the 2011 tornado that destroyed his hometown, Pleasant Grove, and multiple cities in Alabama. Giving back to the community hits home for him, so there was no hesitation in getting out and giving back when the opportunity to help was there. The City of Birmingham’s supply drive opened on Monday and closed today at 4 p.m. City offices will be closed on April 2 for Good Friday.
