Second Fairfield Murder Suspect In Custody: Sheriff

Da'Marcus Gilliam was taken into custody for the murder of Jon Paul Matthew Kimber.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A suspect sought by law enforcement in the June 16 shooting death of Jon Pail Matthew Kimber is now in custody. Da’Marcus Gilliam was taken into custody Wednesday night and charged with capital murder.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said additional charges may be added as the investigation continues.

Gilliam is the second suspect to be charged in the shooting death. Joydan Ja’Niece Blackwell was arrested on capital murder charges during the initial investigation and remains in the Jefferson County Jail.

Money said Blackwell attempted to rob Kimber and take his vehicle. When Kimber resisted, he was shot multiple times.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and additional arrests are still expected.
