Shooting In Ensley Kills 43-Year-Old Birmingham Man

The second deadly shooting in Ensley in three days claimed the life of a 43-year-old Birmingham man Monday.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The second deadly shooting in three days in Birmingham's Ensley community claimed the life of a 43-year-old Birmingham man. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. in the 1500 block of 29th Street.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the victim, identified as Anthony Jackson, Jr.,was inside of his truck when a suspect driving a silver SUV fired several times striking the victim.

Mauldin said detectives believe Jackson was targeted. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

A shooting Sunday in Ensley also resulted in a fatality, after two people were shot at the intersection of Avenue V at Warrior Road.
