Water Works Employee Shot And Killed Near Montclair Rd. Walmart

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A deadly shooting on Montclair Road in east Birmingham Friday afternoon is under investigation.

Birmingham police said Tyrone King, 29, was shot while driving a Birmingham Water Works truck in the Walmart shopping center parking lot just before 1 p.m.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin said police have determined someone in a car in the parking lot fired shots into the BWWB vehicle, and that King was likely targeted.

A fellow BWWB employee was reportedly in the company truck with the victim and was able to steer the truck into some bushes after the shooting.

Police have not established a motive in this case and no suspects are in custody.
