Sidewalk Film Festival To Return To Downtown Birmingham
After a year away from its downtown roots, the Sidewalk Film festival will return to Birmingham's Theatre District for 2021.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — After a year away from downtown Birmingham due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Sidewalk Film Festival is returning to the Theatre District in Birmingham for 2021.
The 2020 version of the festival was held at the Grand River Drive-In in Leeds, and was a success as festival producers made due with limited options during the pandemic.
The 23rd Annual Sidewalk Film Festival returns to downtown Birmingham with a festival footprint that includes the Sidewalk Film Center and Cinema, the Alabama Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, First Church Birmingham, the Alabama School of Fine Arts Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre, Recital Hall and Lecture Hall as well as the Steiner Auditorium at the Birmingham Museum of Art.

The Alabama-based documentary "Socks on Fire" was announced as the first Official Selection of the 2021 Sidewalk Film Festival, Sidewalk officials said in a release Tuesday. The film won the coveted Best Documentary Feature Award at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by Gadsden, Alabama-based filmmaker, Bo McGuire.
Passes for this year’s Festival go on sale Monday, May 17 at 8 a.m.
