Teen Girl Injured In July 4 Shooting

A 15-year-old girl was shot during an incident July 4 in south Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 15-year-old girl was shot during an incident Saturday night. The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue South.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said the girl was taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown suspect began firing shots in an
alleyway before fleeing the scene on foot, Fitzgerald said. No one is in custody as of Tuesday morning.
