Tornado Watch Removed For Jefferson County
The National Weather Service removed its tornado watch for Jefferson County as the wave of storms move east.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The National Weather Service removed the tornado watch for Jefferson County just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, after nearly 12 hours under a watch or warning during the day.
For more than six hours Wednesday, the NWS had at least one active tornado warning in the state. By 6:30 p.m., all tornado warnings had expired. However, tornadoes in Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties were spotted just after 8 p.m., and a watch was kept in effect for Jefferson County.

The first tornado of the day in Jefferson County was spotted near Dora around 2:30 p.m.. Another tornado was spotted in north Jefferson County near Blount County, moving toward Morris around 3 p.m., and another was reported in west Jefferson County near Tuscaloosa County just before 4 p.m.

The storms caused more than 20,000 power outages throughout the state Wednesday, and more than 2,000 in Jefferson County.
