UAB Adds 18 Electronic Car Charging Stations To Campus

UAB is adding 18 charging stations to provide for and encourage electric vehicle use by students, faculty and staff.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The University of Alabama at Birmingham will begin the 2018-19 school year with 18 new electronic vehicle charging stations on its campus.

Beginning June 29, employees at UAB had access to 16 new electric vehicle charging stations installed at four campus locations. Employees can refuel their electric vehicles at the stations free of charge. Two more stations will be installed at the new site of the Collat School of Business.

According to the Alabama News Center, UAB Sustainability held an electric car show “to help people see the different options that are out there if they wanted to purchase an electric vehicle,” said Julie Price, UAB Sustainability manager.

Alabama Power partnered with UAB on installing the 18 new chargers for employees only. UAB already has eight chargers available to campus visitors at three campus locations.
