UAB To Face SEC Opponent In Gasparilla Bowl

TAMPA, FL — UAB defeated Marshall Friday night to capture its second Conference USA championship in three years, and now look to face SEC foe South Carolina in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa Saturday.

The Blazers, who played in just one bowl game before the termination of the school's football program following the 2014 season, are playing in their fourth bowl game since resurrecting the program in 2017.

UAB's only bowl game victory came in 2018 in the Boca Raton Bowl, a 38-13 win over Northern Illinois. Last season, the Blazers fell to Appalachian State 31-17 in the New Orleans Bowl.

Kickoff for the Gasparilla Bowl is set for 11 a.m. and the game will be televised on ABC.
