Your Kid's Urgent Care Opens in Vestavia Hills

Florida-based urgent care opens clinic offering telemedicine and sensory-friendly experience

Parents have a new option when their children get sick and their pediatrician is unavailable. Your Kid’s Urgent Care announces the opening of their Vestavia Hills, Ala., location on October 28. This is the company’s fifth location and their first outside the state of Florida. “We are thrilled to bring affordable, after-hours pediatric care to the community,” said Michael Cibran, CEO of the company. “Not only will our facility cut down on visits to the Emergency Room, but it also gives parents peace of mind to know that they can bring their kids to a clinic that they can trust and receive quality care.”

Events to celebrate the clinic opening include a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on November 20, 2019, at 12:00 pm. Your Kid’s Urgent Care will be open seven days a week, with weekday hours from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and weekend hours from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. “We look forward to joining the local community and serving its youngest citizens,” said Derrol Dawkins, M.D. “Our office is fully staffed with pediatric specialized physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants for those times when your child cannot be seen by their regular pediatrician’s office.” Dawkins and Marquisha Jarmon, M.D., serve as the medical directors of the Vestavia Hills office.

Your Kid’s Urgent Care is the first clinic in the area to offer virtual visits or telemedicine. “Our first clinic opened in Florida in 2007, so there is a proven record of the quality of care we provide,” Jarmon said. “Not only do we have a full laboratory, X-ray and an in-house pharmacy dispensary, but we also can see patients virtually through technology for minor issues such as a cold, skin rashes or a sinus infection.”

The doctors at Your Kid’s Urgent Care have partnered with KultureCity to create a sensory inclusive environment for pediatric patients or parents. Guests with PTSD, dementia or a diagnosis on the autism spectrum can often experience sensitivity to overstimulation or noise in public. Based in Birmingham, KultureCity is one of the leading nonprofit organizations serving people with sensory needs.

According to Felicia Fortune, executive vice president, corporate and franchising development for the company, Your Kid’s Urgent Care plans to expand throughout Alabama over the next year. “Our plan is to expand our footprint across the U.S. to more than 30 clinics over the next five years,” Fortune said. “There is a shortage of pediatric urgent care clinics throughout the state and the U.S. We hope to bridge the gap for after-hours emergencies.”
