Alabama Lags Behind In COVID-19 Vaccination Rates
Although more than half of the U.S. has been vaccinated, Alabama residents are getting vaccinated at a slower rate.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Although more than half of adults throughout the country have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, Alabama's vaccination numbers are considerably lower.
A report from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows just 37 percent of Alabama adults have received a shot, with none of Alabama's counties even at 50 percent.
As of Tuesday, 2.2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Alabama, with 1.4 million people receiving at least one dose and 917,988 people fully vaccinated.

The counties with the highest percentage of adults receiving at least one vaccine shot:
- Hale County: 45 percent
- Bullock County: 44 percent
- Lowndes County: 44 percent
- Perry County: 44 percent
- Marengo County: 43 percent
- Shelby County: 43 percent
- Wilcox County: 43 percent
- Jefferson County: 42 percent
- Colbert County: 40 percent
- Madison County: 40 percent
