Arrest Made In Deadly Shooting Of Hoover Man

Birmingham police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting May 2 in 5 Points South.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — An arrest has been made in the deadly May 2 shooting of Eric Tyler Sledge Jr, of Hoover. Police say Larry Denzel Rollins was arrested and charged with murder.

Sledge, 27, was shot in the 1100 block of 20th Street South, and was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said a preliminary investigation suggests Sledge was walking with a group of people who had just been involved in a physical altercation in the area when Rollins shot Sledge.

Rollins was taken into custody and is currently being held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
