Coronavirus In Shelby County: License Offices Closing

Shelby County is closing three of its drivers license offices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — Like many of the state's county and municipal offices, driver's licence offices in Shelby County will close this week amid concerns over the spread of coronavirus in the county.

The Shelby County License Offices in Pelham, Inverness and Columbiana will close Wednesday, March 25, ans stay closed through April 8, according to a statement from the county.

As of Monday, 17 cases of COVID-19 had been reported in Shelby County.

The status of other county offices are as follows:

  • The Shelby County Courthouse remains open to essential business only.
  • Shelby County Development Services including Building Inspections remains open to all business. Please observe modified workflows.
  • The Shelby County Landfill remains open with normal business hours to all customer at this time. Credit or Debit Card payments are preferred and recommended.
  • All other Shelby County offices with direct public interaction (Sheriff’s Office, Probate Court,Property Tax, Highway Department, Business Revenue, and Water Services) and essentialoperations have modified public access to mitigate exposure and spread of the virus during this COVID-19 pandemic.
