Highway 280 To Close Near Inverness Friday For Construction
Parts of 280 will be closed for road work Friday, and is expected to re-open by the afternoon.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham motorists already know the traffic issues on Highway 280, especially in the Inverness area. Those issues will be compounded exponentially Friday when the Alabama Department of Transportation begins road work on two portions of the highway.
ALDOT issued a statement saying the two right-hand lanes on the eastbound side will be closed from the Interstate 459 Interchange to Cahaba River Bridge starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
After that work is completed, they will close the westbound lanes from the intersection of Riverview Road to the intersection of Cahaba River Road. ALDOT said all the work will be done and lanes will be reopened no later than 3 p.m. Friday.
