Hoover City Council Voted To Increase Building Permit Fees
Monday evening, City Council voted 5-2 to increase building permit fees. This is the first raise in this particular fee since 1990.

HOOVER, AL — On Monday evening, Hoover City Council voted to raise the building permit fees from $6 to $8.50 for every $1,000 worth of value in total construction, according to The Hoover Sun. This building permit fee is already in addition to the base fee of $1,500 that’s required for each new home built within Hoover city limits. The city passes that base fee of $1,500 to the Hoover Board of Education.
In an official statement, City Administrator, Allan Rice, said that the increase in this fee will bring Hoover more in line with surrounding municipalities. Rice also said that the higher fee will help the city get better in tune with the current cost of services provided.
