Hoover Coronavirus: City Officials Launch Helpline

Hoover city officials activated the hotline Thursday to help residents impacted by the coronavirus.

HOOVER, AL—As the number of coronavirus cases increases throughout Alabama, Hoover city leaders officially activated a helpline Thursday to help Hoover residents impacted by COVID-19.

"Mayor Frank Brocato and City of Hoover employees understand this is an unprecedented time of uncertainty and concern," city officials said in a news release Thursday. "Still, we are committed to continuing a level of service and excellence this city is known for, and we strive to do it in as personal a way that we can while keeping in line with guidelines from health officials."

Known as the "Hoover Helpline," it will serve as a one-stop resource line where Hoover residents can speak with a person and indicate what their needs as it relates to COVID-19, according to city officials.

Some of the the requests from residents may include but not limited to:

  • Finding food for children
  • Getting help with errands for the elderly
  • Information concerning tax deadlines

After a resident places a call to the helpline, a representative will take their request, reach out to an agency that can help, find out the information needed and then relay that back to the caller.

The number for the Hoover Helpline is: 205-444-7877. This line will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week including weekends.

City officials are also asking that any business or organization that is providing a service to help residents during this time to notify the city. They can call the same Hoover Helpline number and indicate the help they are providing.
