HOOVER, AL—Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato addressed the city's residents Thursday night via video to inform them of the city's efforts to keep residents and employees safe during the continued spread of the coronavirus. He also shared vital information about services being offered to assist citizens and businesses. His message and video to residents is below:

Hello. I'm Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato.
As we deal with the unprecedented events unfolding in our world right now, I wanted to take just a few minutes to update you on what the City of Hoover is doing to manage and assist with this incident. This situation can make us all feel a little uneasy, but you can rest assure that our staff is on the job.
First, I want you to know that all critical city services like police, fire and paramedic services and our 911 emergency dispatch, they are all being provided just like always. We have plans in place to maintain all of these critical services no matter what happens. So if you need us, we will be there for you.
We’ve taken steps to protect our employees by reducing the size of our workforce inside city facilities each day and we’ve staggered our staffing to ensure we have backups available in case the employee falls ill. Also, many of our employees are working remotely to keep the business of the city going. We are operating under an incident action plan and our efforts are coordinated through out emergency operations center.
In addition to critical city functions, we are supporting other vital operations as well. We’re assisting Hoover City Schools and Hoover Helps to make sure that Hoover’s children do not go without food during this time. We’ve also opened the Hoover Helpline to make match up residents in need with the resources that are available to them. If you need assistance or information, call 205-444-7877. Also, if you represent a charity or church or social organization that can provide that help, please call that same number at 205-444-7877 to be placed on the list of resources.
We’ve also opened our business services line. Our local business owners can call this number: 205-739-7162 to be directed to resources that they can use to help deal with the effects of this event. Together, without city council and our staff, we’ll find ways to help our Hoover business community recover from this situation. Again, the number for the business services line is 205-739-7162 and watch our website at www.hooveralabama.gov or follow the city on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to find a tremendous amount of information about this event. You’ll also find directions for receiving all automated updates about issues specific to Hoover residents and to Hoover businesses.
We’ve all be asked to do things to help control this pandemic, and those things require certain sacrifices. Some in our community are being impacted very seriously by these measures. They’re facing the loss of a job or the loss of a business. Let’s all make sure that the sacrifices are not in vain by adhering to the guidelines and the orders issued by our health officials. The faster we can get this virus under control, the faster everyone’s life can return to normal.
For 42 years I was proud to service the City of Hoover as a firefighter and a paramedic, and I’m definitely proud to serve our city as your mayor. Our city is made up of outstanding residents and businesses and employees. We have no reason to panic because we’ve planned, and we’ve prepared for this event. Together, we will get through this, and we will be a stronger city as a result.
God bless everyone of you, and God bless our great city.
Thank you so much.
—Mayor Frank Brocato
