HOOVER, AL - No one knows the importance of donating blood like first responders and emergency personnel. The need for blood donations is always dire, and Hoover's first responders are turning blood donation into a little friendly competition.

The Hoover Police Department and Hoover Fire Department are hosting the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive Wednesday, July 25, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 2020 Valleydale Road.

The Battle of the Badges is a friendly competition among first responders to see who can recruit the most blood donors from their communities.
