Hoover Man Killed In Birmingham Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Hoover man was shot and killed in Birmingham early Sunday morning. Eric Tyler Sledge Jr., 27, died just before 1 a.m. after being shot in the 1100 block of 20th Street South.

Sledge was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.

"The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was walking with a group of individuals

who had just been involved in a physical altercation in the area when an unknown
suspect fired shots at the victim ultimately striking him," Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said. "The motive in this incident is still unclear."
