Hoover Mayor Pushing For New Mass Transit System On U.S. 280
Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato says he is a big supporter of a rapid transit system to relieve traffic congestion on U.S. Highway 280.

HOOVER, AL - Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato says he is a big supporter of a rapid transit system to relieve traffic congestion on U.S. Highway 280.
"We've got to start thinking about transit, mass transit in this area to relieve some of this traffic," he told CBS 42.
The mass transit system would travel along the median on U.S. 280, stretching from Shelby County to downtown Birmingham.

Brocato said a modern bus with amenities such as a coffee bar and internet connections could be successful. The bus would travel down U.S. 280, making about a half dozen stops before getting to downtown.
The mayor said local leaders are already discussing such a mass transit system.
