Hoover's Household Hazardous Waste Day Rescheduled For August

After the orginal date in May was canceled, Hoover has rescheduled Household Hazardous Waste Day in August.

HOOVER, AL — The City of Hoover has rescheduled its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day for August 1. Originally scheduled for May 2, this event gives Hoover residents the chance to properly dispose of hazardous items in their homes.

The event takes place at 2020 Valleydale Road, Ste 111, and lasts from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Environmental Protection Agency says that improper disposal of hazardous household wastes can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health. Certain types of HHW have the potential to cause physical injury to sanitation workers and contaminate septic tanks or wastewater treatment systems if poured down drains or toilets. They can also present hazards to children and pets if left around the house.
