Inmate Escapes Childersburg Work Center

A man serving five years for assault has escaped the Childersburg Community Work Center.

CHILDERSBURG, AL — An Alabama inmate reportedly escaped from a correctional facility in Childersburg. Tracy Blackburn, who was serving five years at the Childersburg Community Work Center, reportedly escaped Monday morning.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said in a release that Blackburn was serving a five-year sentence for an assault conviction in Shelby County, and he had been placed in minimum-community custody, meaning he is allowed gainful employment in the community on a full-time basis and is supervised in community-based facilities when not working.

Anyone who may have seen Blackburn is asked to call their nearest law enforcement office or call 911.
