Jefferson County Sheriff's Office: Two Shot Overnight Near Western Hills Mall

At approximately 1:20 AM on Monday, May 31, 2021, a Jefferson County Deputy was performing patrol duties near Western Hills Mall when he heard multiple gunshots.  The deputy then witnessed a vehicle leave the roadway, strike a tree and come to a rest near the 7200 block of Aaron Aranov Drive.  When the deputy got to the vehicle, he found that there were two occupants in the vehicle.  Both of the occupants, a 35 year old female and a 26 year old male, had been shot.  Both victims were transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital.  The male had life threatening injuries. The female victim’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
