Mountain Bike Park Opens In Hoover

Hoover celebrated the opening of a new 73-acre mountain bike park in the Trace Crossings community.

HOOVER, AL - Mountain bikers have a new place in the Birmingahm metro area to ride, now that Hoover has opened its new Black Creek Mountain Bike Park. The grand opening was this week, to the delight of local bikers.

The 73-acre park was built in the Trace Crossings community along Stadium Trace Parkway. About five miles of trails were built into the natural terrain. The mountain bike park was not originally the purpose of the land, according to a Hoover Sun report. The property was owned by Signature Homes for development. However, when the developers learned they would have to cut 100 to 120 feet off the elevation of the ridge to build a street on top, the company preserved the ridge with a park and donated it to the city.

The park is divided into several trails of varying skill levels, so there is something both for novice and advanced riders, and is accessible by a trailhead across from the Lake Wilborn Clubhouse.
